Categories¶
The Categories module groups published applications into coherent sets that are shown to the end user in the user portal. It is aimed at an administrator who organises the application catalog: creating, renaming, designating the default category and removing unused ones.
A category is used to:
- present applications as clear subsets on the user portal,
- filter the application list when it becomes long,
- pre-select a default category when a new application is created.
Category list¶
The grid shows every available category.

| Search field | Filters the list by name substring. The search fires 700 ms after the last keystroke, or immediately with the Enter key. |
| Pagination | Configurable page size (15, 25 or 50 entries). |
The toolbar carries the add button (tooltip New Category), the Properties icon and the delete icon, the last two enabled only when a row is selected.
Add a category¶
- Click the + button in the toolbar.
- Fill in the fields of the Add Category window.
- Click Validate.

| Name | Mandatory. A whitespace-only string is rejected, as is the reserved value Workplace — the field then reads Invalid Name. An already used name is rejected with the message This category already exists. |
| Selected by default: | When the box is checked, this category becomes the initial value proposed when a new application is created. Only one category carries the flag at a time. |
Edit a category¶
Select the category in the list then click the Properties icon, or double-click the row. The Edit Category window carries the same fields as on create.
Delete a category¶
Select one or more categories, then click the × button. Deletion asks for confirmation.
Some categories cannot be deleted because they are currently referenced: they are left out of the operation and listed in a warning message, the others still being deleted.
Category still holding applications¶
When a category selected for deletion still holds applications, the Delete category name window opens. It lists the applications concerned in a two-column grid:

A message above the grid recalls that these applications can be assigned to a new category by double-clicking in the Action column.
Validating applies the reassignments then deletes the category; the message The category was successfully deleted. confirms the operation. It repeats in cascade when several categories holding applications were selected.
